ATTENTION:

We are not currently accepting new clients for this program. However, we can still help Alabama residents get their home study completed to be used with different matching entities (placing agencies in or out of state, adoption consultants, etc).

How we structure our program

Our agency combines the efforts of experienced adoption coordinators and social workers with the professional services of trusted adoption attorney, Deirdra L. Drinkard (Deirdra L. Drinkard, LLC) to provide prospective adoptive parents with supportive services at each step in the adoption process.

**Due to the dedication we have to providing both our birth mothers and adoptive families with consistent quality support and services, we only accept applications for our Domestic Infant Adoption Program from prospective adoptive families who are Alabama residents.

  • Complete an adoption home study:

    • The adoption home study is a process of gathering documentation and conducting interviews with a licensed social worker to verify an applicant meets the State of Alabama’s standards and qualifications for legally adopting a child. This information is compiled into a written report.

  • Prepare a family profile book:

    • Prospective birth mothers are provided with family profile books from Children of the World domestic clients to consider for placement. Your adoption coordinator will give you pointers regarding the creation of your book.

  • Connect with your adoption attorney, Deirdra L. Drinkard:

    • Children of the World chooses to work exclusively with Deirdra L. Drinkard, LLC for all domestic adoption legal matters in the state of Alabama.

  • Get selected by a Birth Mother:

    • To answer a common question: It is the birth mothers who choose which family to place their child with, not us. She will not be pressured to select a family that has been waiting longer.

  • Develop your adoption plan.

  • Prepare for the arrival of the child.

  • Complete post-placements reports as needed to finalize the adoption.
