Children of the World is pleased to announce that we are accepting a limited number of applications for our Russia program.  Children of the World is a licensed child placing agency working in a close partnership 
with an accredited in Russia agency to place Russian orphans with qualified American families.  Despite many rumors and slow down with reaccreditation process in Russia, several regions continue to process adoptions and seek families for their eligible children.   

Children from 10 months and up are available. Adoption of sibling group 
as well as unrelated children is also possible.  Due to variety of influencing factors beyond our control, we make no guarantee on the time frame for a referral or placement.  However, we currently project our families completing their adoption process in 9 to 18 months depending on criteria for a child they are seeking to adopt.

Once all of the necessary documents are completed and registered with 
the proper authorities in one of the Russian regions, a family is invited to travel on the first trip. Upon arrival, the family will have an appointment 
with the regional Ministry of Education during which they will receive their official referral.  After the meeting, adoptive parents will be allowed to visit the orphanage, meet their child, receive their child’s medical information, and ask questions. It is highly encouraged that the family has all information evaluated by a qualified doctor in the United States or Russia before making their decision to adopt a referred child.  The first trip is usually 5 to 7 days, upon completion adoptive parents return home and await for their court hearing to be scheduled.

Once all of the necessary steps are taken in the US and Russia, the court hearing is scheduled and the family is invited to return to Russia. Average stay in country during the second trip is 3 to 3 1/2 weeks. It may be possible for one of the parents to return home after one week, but the second parent has to remain till the end of the process and bring newly adopted child home.
