India Eligibility For Parents

COTW is NOW ACCEPTING applications for India.

Children of the World has been licensed by the Central Adoption Resource Agency (CARA) to place children in the United States since 1996. In 2008 CARA announced that they would be issuing new guidelines for adoptive parents. To date these new guidelines have not been issued.

Requirements for Parents

Heterosexual, married couples who have a combined age of 90 years or less with a maximum age of 55 for each parent. Parents under 30 are taken on a case by case basis.

Only heterosexual females may adopt and must be 30–55 years old.

Couples should be married at least 3 years. (Some flexibility on a case by case basis for 2+ years of marriage with a history of a longer committed relationship.)

Second marriages must be at least five years.

Families may have no more than 3 children under the age of 18 currently living in the home.

Non-Resident Indian and Overseas Citizen (OCI/NRI) parents must be 42 or younger to adopt an infant.

About the Children

Mostly girls are available.

Children are usually between 13-18 months old when you bring them home.

Families must be open to the following medical needs of children: premature birth, low birth weight, moderate to severe malnourishment, delayed development, or blood/plasma transfusions.

Although the areas in which we work are extremely poor, the child care is remarkable. The ratio of children to caregiver is very low. Your child will receive a great deal of love and care daily.
